• The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has denied carriers' requests for a waiver that would allow them to retain benefit limits on certain services.  As of January 1, 2012, individual insurance carriers will no longer have annual limits on prescription medications and durable medical equipment.  The increased benefits do result in some minor rate increases.  To combat rate increases, LifeWise and Group Health are eliminating all brand-name prescriptions coverage. Regence will maintain brand-name coverage on their Evolve Plus policies.  To see how these changes might affect your policy, please click your carrier: Group Health or Regence BlueShield.  LifeWise of Washington has included the changes in their annual renewal, also effective 1/1/2012.
• LifeWise Healthplan of Washington has announced an average 8.7% rate increase for their annual renewal 1/1/2012.  Enrollees may check out the new rates here.  In addition, they are discontinuing their WiseChoices Prime 1500 plan and migrating those enrollees to the new comprehensive WiseAdvantage 1800 plan as of the first of the year.
